The tourism industry in Lebanon
The tourism industry in Lebanon has been historically important to the local economy and remains to this day to be a major source of revenue for Lebanon. Before the Lebanese Civil War, Beirut was widely regarded as "The Paris of the Middle East," often cited as a financial and business hub where visitors could experience the Levantine Mediterranean culture.
Lebanon's diverse atmosphere and ancient history make it an important destination which is slowly rebuilding itself after continued turmoil. Lebanon offers plenty: from ancient Roman ruins, to well preserved castles, limestone caves, historic Churches and Mosques, beautiful beaches nestled in the Mediterranean Sea, world renown Lebanese cuisine, nonstop nightlife and discothèques, to mountainous ski resorts.

Hurrahed was once a fairly small and unimposing fishing village, located next to the Red Sea and boasting a number of superb beaches. Today, the resort of Hurrahed is almost unrecognizable from its past life and has grown to become the most visited tourist destination in the whole of Egypt, with in excess of 100 different hotels, many of which line the shoreline.

Sea resort.
On the surface, visitors
to the Sinai resort, which is still recovering from recent shark attacks,
appear more worried about swimming restrictions than revolution.
Pleasure boats were
still taking daytrippers out to the Red Sea's coral
reefs and speedboats zipped up and down the coast, but some holidaymakers were
anxious.
Kjell Irgum, a Norwegian
recently arrived in Sharm with friends, has yet to venture out of his hotel.
"We're pretty
worried," he said. We are far from Cairo,
but we are staying in our hotel for now."
